POW/MIA Recognition Day 2025 – Remembering the Missing and Unreturned Heroes

National POW/MIA Recognition Day is observed every year on the third Friday of September. In 2025, it falls on September 19—a solemn occasion to honor the more than 80,000 American service members who are still missing or unaccounted for from past conflicts.

At Midwest Chimney Repair, we pause to remember these heroes and their families, who continue to endure the uncertainty of their absence. Their sacrifice, though sometimes unseen, is no less powerful.

Why POW/MIA Recognition Day 2025 Matters

This observance is not just about remembrance—it’s about commitment. The United States continues to work tirelessly to bring home every missing service member and to support their families.

By raising the POW/MIA flag, observing moments of silence, and sharing stories of courage, we ensure these heroes are never forgotten.

How to Honor the Day

Consider one or more of these meaningful actions on POW/MIA Recognition Day 2025:

  • Fly the POW/MIA flag alongside the U.S. flag

  • Attend a veterans’ memorial or recognition ceremony

  • Share information about POW/MIA history with younger generations

  • Support organizations helping military families

  • Light a candle in remembrance at home

Every act of remembrance counts.
